Educational Performances

Take a field trip to experience a live, professional ballet performance tailored just for students. Students will visit the Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, Belk Theater or Knight Theater in uptown Charlotte for a daytime educational version of a main-stage contemporary or storybook ballet production. Teachers will receive a complimentary online multimedia study guide to engage students prior to attending the performance and students have the opportunity to ask the professional dancers questions during a live Q&A.

Nutcracker

Appropriate for Grades K-12

Celebrate the sights and sounds of the holidays a Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s Nutcracker. This holiday spectacular is complete with extravagant sets and costumes and the treasured music of Tchaikovsky.

Program addresses: NC Essential Standards in Dance, Music, and Social Studies; and Common Core Standards in English Language Arts.

Cost: $15 per person, $7 for CMS Title I schools. Deadline for reservations is November 13.               Act I & Act II (edited version)

Artistic Director Hope Muir introduces two exciting new choreographers to Charlotte; UNC Greensboro professor Duane Cyrus and Resident Choreographer of the Nashville Ballet Christopher Stuart will embark on creations for the company inspired by The Mint Museum’s upcoming fall exhibition “Immersed in Light: Studio Drift at the Mint.”

Sleeping Beauty A Fairy-Tailored Classic

Artistic Director Hope Muir returns to the stage as Narrator in this condensed version that stays true to its beloved, classic choreography-complete with glittering tutus and dazzling tiaras. Set to Tchaikovsky’s quintessential score, this gorgeous tale of Princess Aurora, the Lilac Fairy, and the royal court is perfect for the entire family.
