Charlotte Ballet Pre-Professional Division is committed to providing comprehensive training for male dancers. Centered upon classical ballet, our training provides a dynamic curriculum that also emphasizes a range of contemporary dance techniques. Dancers develop proficiency and artistry through their full schedule of classes, rehearsals and performances. Male dancers train with Charlotte Ballet Pre-Professional Division’s esteemed faculty, including Academy Associate Director and head of Men’s Program, Laszlo Berdo.

The Pre-Professional Division is designed to prepare dancers not only for a possible career with Charlotte Ballet but for prosperous professional careers with a variety of companies with diverse repertoires.

MALE TRAINEES AND SENIOR TRAINEES RECEIVE:

Scholarship for all tuition and registration fees
• Scholarship for Festival and/or Competition registration and fees
• 5 week summer intensive program
• Ballet shoe allowance
• Tickets to Charlotte Ballet performances
• Monthly living stipend for 12 months*
• Additional potential earnings for pas de deux work within Academy
*Charlotte Ballet does not provide housing

Laszlo Berdo

Academy Associate Director

Laszlo danced professionally for 20 years with four ballet companies, lastly as a Principal dancer with Boston Ballet. As a teacher, he has coached and mentored students who currently hold positions with companies including San Francisco Ballet, Miami City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and Finnish National Ballet. Laszlo’s teaching emphasizes refined classical technique, strength and musicality while developing each individual artistically.
