It has always been a dream of Charlotte Ballet Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux to bring his vision for Nutcracker to life with brand new sets and costumes. Thanks to a generous gift from the McColl family in honor of Jane Spratt McColl, Jean-Pierre is collaborating with a world-renowned design team to re-imagine his Nutcracker production with all new sets and costumes. This million dollar makeover for Nutcracker will be revealed this season, Jean-Pierre’s last as Artistic Director.
Local Charlotte Ballet artisans are collaborating with designers all over the world to bring Jean-Pierre’s vision to life and have already begun the work to bring this all new Nutcracker to the stage in December. Costume designer Holly Hynes is designing each new costume for the performance. With 250 ballets to her credit, Holly has worked extensively with New York City Ballet and Ballet de l’Opéra National de Paris paralleling Jean-Pierre’s work as a dancer.
