About Sarah Hayes Harkins

Hometown: Waynesville, North Carolina

Dancing since: Age 7

Favorite Ballet: Johan Inger’s Walking Mad (returning to Charlotte Ballet this April!)

Favorite roles she’s performed: Choleric in Balanchine’s Four Temperaments; Grand Pas Classique; Cinderella; the Grey Girl in Jirí Kylián’s Forgotten Land and Tinker Bell.

Favorite thing to do on a day off: Get outside.

What powers you as a dancer: I talk a lot about “hunger.” I have hunger for new ballets and choreographers I have never worked with, for new styles I’ve never tried, to see how I will thrive in those environments. My hunger for the exploration of dance powers me.
