The two nights of performances at the Halton Theatre are the culminating components of a year-long collaboration among Charlotte Ballet, UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture, and The Arts at CPCC with generous support from the Wells Fargo Foundation.
Charlotte Ballet is excited to help bring the company to Charlotte and has even performed many Taylor masterworks over the course of Artistic Director, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s directorship.
The collaboration includes the reconstruction and performance by UNCC faculty member Kim Jones of the lost Paul Taylor work “Tracer” (as chronicled in this recent article in The New York Times). Multiple workshops for students at UNCC and CPCC were held as well as a performance for students by the Taylor 2 company.
“The April concerts offer another high point in an eventful year-long project,” said UNCC Department of Dance Chair Dr. Ann Dils.
“In studying and performing Taylor’s works, and in observing and exploring them through discussion and writing, students know more about the lives of professional artists and about how modern artists create meaning in dance, music, and the visual arts. The April performances are another opportunity to enjoy the works of this important artist and to celebrate a year of enriching experiences.”
